To me this quote means that people really didn't want to talk to him because of the way he acted, and he wasn't trying make conversation with them neither. He felt like he wasn't going to make a conversation with them because he felt that people didn't want to talk to him anyway.

Now I wonder what the hell's the point, since they all have to die anyway." To me this qoute means that he is tried of shineing his light to the people, and he don't see anything changing. Now he is wondering why he even started showing them things if nothing was going to change.

Chapter ElevenTheme: Hyperbolic PatriotismQuotation: "The important thing is to keep them pledging," he explained to his cohorts. "It doesn't matter whether they mean it or not."To me this qoute means that he feels that it is important for the man to keep pledging, weather they mean it are not. Because doing it is important and thats all that matters to him.
